Tips on riding in the snow

Although the snow is receding around mtbroutes.com towers, snow is still gripping other parts of the UK. A bit of the white stuff doesn’t mean you have to put the bike away though! Far from it, riding in the snow can be great fun. Here are a few riding tips from The Guardian.

New trail section opens at Mabie

19th December sees the opening of a new section of the Red route at Mabie Forest near Dumfries. The Ridge section adds about 2km to the trail including 400m of singletrack climb and 900m of flowing kicky descent.

New mountain bike trails at Coed Llandegla

Coed Llandegla mountain bike centre near Wrexham has just opened a new skills area suitable for all abilities, beginner to advanced. It boasts a basic skills area, a pump track, dual slalom and a full-on free-ride area with jumps, drops and other man-made features. Money has also been made available to develop a new 10.5Km cross country trail for even more choice at Llandegla. Find out more at www.coedllandegla.com.

New trails at Hamsterley

Hamsterley Forest in County Durham has some new purpose-built singletrack to boast about. Christened ‘Section 13′, the new section links two existing trails and opens-up a 14Km off-road red route which will eventually be extended to 25Km. Hamsterley boasts four official routes – green, blue, red and black, aswell as downhill and 4X courses. There’s plenty to explore ‘off-piste’ too.
